POLL – What’s going on with Wazza?

The league stats are dismal. One goal. Zero assists. More than a few off-colour performances.

The notoriously slow starter has at times looked like his touch is gone, he’s out of ideas and he’d rather be anywhere else.

And yet, he’s the first name on the teamsheet by the grace of being chosen Louis van Gaal’s captain upon the Dutchman’s arrival.

The question has to be asked – what does Wayne Rooney have to do to be dropped?

To say opinion on the issue is divided is a world-class understatement. Some supporters leap to the captain’s defence and ask why always he? Others are howling for him to be dropped – if only to give him a rest and get Ander Herrera back in the lineup.

It would be nice if this was the only problem that needed solving right now. But since Luke Shaw’s injury the unsettled defence looks a mess [if you can call three midfielders and a centre half a defence] and Memphis is also struggling for form in the league – leaving Juan Mata and Anthony Martial as our only bright spots in attack.

But we digress…

Let’s stick with Rooney for a minute. Click the poll and tell me what YOU think the problem is, or if you think there’s one in the first place.

And let’s all hope whatever it is sorts itself out ASAP – because we need to win a trophy this season. And we can’t do it without our skipper.

One comment

  1. 1st of all he needs rest, secondly he has played in different positions when called upon to play. Give him some rest and once he is back play him to his preferred position and I am sure he will be back to his best.
One more thing he needs to bring back the aggression he carried years back
